Yesterday, several Public Relations/Public Information Officers came down to the Training Center to learn a little more about the Warner Robins Police Department. The group consists of media specialists throughout the Middle Georgia area. The group meets once a month to encourage and exchange information regarding their respective agencies and network. Many times mutual cooperation between each agency is necessary during a crisis or significant event.
Officer Greg Martin with the WRPD Canine unit and his partner Ollie performed a demonstration that showcased their abilities in narcotics detection. Officer Martin gave background on the WRPD Canine program and took questions from the group.
Officer Kirk Lowry gave the group an inside look at the many tools that are used by the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. The ladies also had the opportunity to shoot many of the gun used by the officers. Officer Martin and Officer Lowry instructed the group about how to handle loaded weapons and what each one was used for. It turns out PR ladies can shoot very well!
Agencies represented at the meeting where the City of Macon, Robins Air Force Base, the Health Department, Warner Robins Police Department, Warner Robins Fire Department, Georgia National Fair, Houston Heath Care, and Middle Georgia Technical College.
