Officers Investigate Accidental Shooting Involving Child

Incident: Accidental Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound 

Date/Time of report: August 2, 2017/ approximately 3:41PM

Location: North Commercial Circle 

UPDATE: The four year old male that suffered an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. His doctors say his condition has improved. 


At the time of the shooting the mother of the child was picking up food at a local restaurant and the four children, including the one that was injured, were in the vehicle unattended. This case is still under investigation. At this time no charges have been filed, however there could be charges at a later date. 


At approximately 3:41PM on August 2, 2017 a four year old child was taken to the Houston Medical Center for an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg area. 

At this time officers believe the firearm was accidentally discharged inside of a vehicle. The incident is still under investigation and the child's condition is unknown at this time.
