Release date: December 19, 2018
Incident: Search Warrant
Date/Time: December 10, 2018/approx.1:30PM
Location: within the city of Warner Robins and in Bibb County

On December 10th, 2018, the Warner Robins Police Department Narcotics Unit, Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), U.S. Marshals Service, and Georgia State Patrol (GSP) executed search warrants on two properties in Middle Georgia as the result of a yearlong investigation. One search warrant was executed within the city of Warner Robins and one was executed in Bibb County.

Robert Jerome Law, 34, of Lizella, was arrested on a traffic stop leaving Houston County during the execution of these warrants. As a result of the search warrant and arrest of Law, Investigators  located the following narcotics:

- Thirty (30) pounds of marijuana
- 78.5 grams of crack cocaine
- 1,191.8 grams of powder cocaine (2.62 pounds)
- 1798 grams of ecstasy (3.96 pounds)

These drugs carry an estimated street value of over $150,000. In addition to the narcotics seized, Investigators  also seized an undisclosed amount of cash, three (3) firearms, multiple vehicles, and additional property with a total estimated value of seizure over $735,000. One of the seized firearms had been reported stolen through the Warner Robins Police Department in 2016 from an entering auto.

Law has multiple previous drug convictions. Prior to his most recent arrest, he was being supervised under Superior Probation for the charges of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute through Macon  County, Georgia and Trafficking Cocaine through Houston County, Georgia. Law’s probation was set to expire in June of 2028.

At this time, Law has been charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Trafficking Ecstasy, and Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute through Houston County. This investigation is still ongoing.

Great job Ofc. Scuderi in apprehending a suspect in a motor vehicle theft case in Warner Robins and assisting the Bibb County Sheriff's Office in solving another motor vehicle theft case. Because of him, two crimes were solved.

"His actions were what we would hope a solid officer would perform, however, his willingness to communicate with investigators from another jurisdiction, while managing the scene of a vehicle recovery and interviewing witnesses is an example of his maturity as an officer."
Inv. Lebeuf (Bibb County Sheriff's Office)

Awesome job Ofc. Gutierrez, Ofc. Lamberth and Ofc. Wotjal in apprehending three juveniles involved in a residential burglary on Brookley Avenue.

Officers saw three juveniles pushing a safe from the residence being burglarized. When the juveniles saw the officers they fled, but were caught a short time later.

We are #WRPDstrong!

Many of you have asked about our progress in hiring additional officers for our department. Here are the facts.
Since July 1, 2018 we’ve hired 13 officers. At this time, 15 additional officers are in the hiring process.

Here’s where they are in the process:

2 are waiting for results from the drug and alcohol test for employment
1 is currently in the military and will not be available to be hired until early 2019
4 have interviews set
5 are awaiting background checks
3 have been issued a background package, but have not returned them yet.

Since the implementation of the lateral transfers that Mayor Toms approved at the request of Chief Brett Evans, we have hired 3 mandated officers. This is a big deal because,  these officers do not have to complete the 12 week police academy, because they’ve already completed it. So they’re able to start on the road quicker than other applicants.

We are still hiring, however one of the biggest obstacles we’ve faced is actually getting applicants that sign up to take the physical agility test, to actually show up the day the test is administered. For example, on December 10th 10 people signed up to take the Physical Agility test. Of those, 6 showed up. Five passed and moved on to the assessment later that day. Four passed the assessment. Of those one has been disqualified from the process due to recent drug use. So to summarize, 10 signed up, 6 showed up, 3 passed.

We’re doing several things as an agency to increase the number of applicants that apply with our department. For example, we’ve increased advertising and marketing. You may have noticed several billboards on Interstate 75 announcing our agency is hiring and explaining some of our benefits. You may have seen our commercial before SEC football games this Fall or maybe you’ve seen us at several job fairs in Central Georgia. We’ve partnered with pastors and community leaders in the private sector to brainstorm and implement additional marketing strategies to increase our number of applicants.

Maybe you haven’t seen our efforts to increase our force, but that doesn’t mean we’re not trying every way we know how to employ new officers for our department. The fact is, we want more officers, our current officers and our community deserve them. So perhaps before you insult our efforts with false information, consider the information presented to you and maybe send in your application to join our WRPD family. We’re all ONE Warner Robins.
