The
Criminalistics Division is responsible for the collection, comparison,
and interpretation of physical evidence found at crime
scenes or collected from suspects and victims. Each employee of this
division trains to achieve a specific forensic discipline.
The division currently offers the services of latent print and foot ware
examinations, crime scene processing and reconstruction, photography, drug identification, and computer forensics. Each of the
analysts provide expert testimony in various courts of law
as requested. Analysts are also requested to perform as adjunct
instructors at the local, state, and federal levels in their
respective disciplines.
2011 was a very busy year for the crime scene investigators. They processed 129 crime scenes, took 20,943 pictures, processed 2,985 items of evidence, and evaluated 3,112 latent prints. These statistics only cover a small portion of what they accomplished last year.
