One Dead After Shooting on Third Street
UPDATE:
Officers arrested 22 year old Jemarcus Dwayne Duncan in connection with the shooting death of 43 year old Edward McKellar. Duncan is charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and Reckless Conduct.
Officers also arrested 34 year old Reginald Haulcombe Taylor. Taylor is charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Tampering with Evidence.
So far our investigation indicates that the three men were playing around with a gun they thought was unloaded. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.
At approximately 12:48AM on March 9, 2017 officers responded to the front yard of a residence on the 500 block of S. Third Street in reference to a person with a gunshot wound.
43 year old Edward McKellar suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced deceased.
The person responsible for the shooting has been identified and is cooperating with officers at this time. The events leading up to the incident are still under investigation.
