Special Weapons and Tactics Team

The task of the Warner Robins Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) team is to respond to high-risk situations that are beyond the scope of normal police operations. The team responds to barricaded gunmen, hostage situation, and assists the Narcotics Intelligence Unit (N.I.U.) in serving high-risk drug warrants.

Being a member of the S.W.A.T. team is an additional duty taken on by the officers on the team. They come from various divisions of the police department but most are assigned to the Patrol Division.

To be a member of the S.W.A.T. team an officer must be in good physical condition and be able to complete a rigorous physical test. The candidate must also shoot 90% or higher on the S.W.A.T. team pistol course. An oral interview and a clean disciplinary record are also required.
