Do You Know Your Class CP & D?

It's a milestone in every teenager's life - getting their first driver's license.  Do you know the restrictions that come along with a Class CP and a Class D license?  

Here's a break down:

Class CP
Applicants must be at least 15 years old who have passed the required vision and knowledge test when obtaining the license

Class CP drivers must have at least a 21 year old valid license drive in the front seat of the vehicle when driving.

This permit is valid for 24 months


Class D
This is a provisional driver's license for Class C drivers

May not operate a vehicle between 12:00 midnight and 6:00 A.M. until the driver obtains a Class C license.   

First six (6) months -  No persons not family members for the first six months.  

Second six (6) months - only ONE non-family member under 21 years old can be a passenger inside the vehicle

After one year - no more than THREE non-family members under 21 years old can be passengers in the vehicle
