1989 Cold Case Press Conference

On April 22, 2014 the Houston County District Attorney, along with the Warner Robins Police Department, announced the indictment of a 25 year old cold case.

That morning a Houston County grand jury passed an indictment in the 1989 cold case.

The incident happened in March 1989 involving two males who were found murdered in a wood shed behind a residence on Sunset Drive.

The suspect, James Happoldt, was indicted for killing the two males.  He is currently in the Coffee County correction facility on an unrelated incident in Monroe County.

Detective Jimmy Yoho was the initial investigator in 1989.  He conducted an extensive investigation but the case never moved forward.

WRPD Detective Brad Mules was assigned the 1989 case several years ago and has done a great job in his follow up investigation.

WRPD has had 13 cold case homicides since 1969.  One case dates back to 1975.  Four off the thirteen have been cleared including the one announced on April 22nd.

The other cold cases are assigned to detectives within the WRPD Criminal Investigations Division.
