Officer Catch Entering Auto In Progress

On April 25, 2014 at 7:38 A.M. Officer James Roberson was patrolling the area of Tiffany Lane when he observed juveniles pulling on car door handles.

Further investigation found that two vehicles were entered. The juveniles were placed into custody and were transported to the Warner Robins Law Enforcement Center.

Both juveniles are 15 years old males. One juvenile was charged with Entering Auto to Commit A Theft & Loitering. The other juvenile was charged with Loitering. Both have extensive arrest histories.

The Warner Robins Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is investigating this incident. Anyone with more information about this incident is asked to contact 478-302-5380.

Date/Time: Wednesday, January 30, 2013

Location:  100-block Willis Creek Drive

Officers of the Warner Robins Police Department responded to the 100-block of Willis Creek Drive in reference to a suspicious person & vehicle.

Before arrival officers were given a description of a white Grand Marquis with a partial tag.  The suspicious person left the area in the vehicle before officers arrived. 

A continued investigation determined the vehicle involved in the incident was at a residence in the 200-block of Self Street.  Officers went to the residence and found Shaviss Sherroid Head (19 years old, Warner Robins) and the vehicle.  Several stolen items were recovered from the vehicle.  The items were reported stolen from other entering auto incidents where he was apprehended.  Head was arrested and charged with Theft By Receiving Stolen Property.

Further investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division led to the additional arrest of a juvenile (14 years old, Warner Robins) charged with 2 counts of Entering Auto and 2 counts of Theft By Receiving stolen Property.

Head was transported to the Houston County jail where he later bonded out.  The juvenile was taken to the Houston County Juvenile Division. 

This incident is still under investigation.  More arrests and charges are expected.

Entering Auto Arrests

On Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 2:30 A.M. officers of the Warner Robins Police Department responded to 800 Leisure Lake Drive in reference to an Entering Auto in progress. 

Preliminary investigation revealed three males were attempting to break into a vehicle and then fled on foot.  Officers observed a Honda Accord behind a building at 500 Hidden Harbor Drive.  Three black males exited the vehicle and fled on foot as officers approached. 

After a brief foot pursuit officers were able to locate two of the males and placed them into custody.  One of the males was in possession of a stolen handgun at the time of his arrest.  Further investigation revealed the Honda Accord was reported stolen out of Macon.   

Arrested:

Gerrod Daquna Prater (29 years old, Macon)

Charges: Possession of Tools During the Commission of a Crime, Entering Auto to Commit a Theft, Theft By Receiving, Obstruction of an Officer, Loitering/Prowling Violation.

Keon Dontae Releford (22 years old, Warner Robins)

Charges: Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Theft By Receiving (2 counts), Possession of Tools During the Commission of a Crime, Loitering/Prowling Violation, Obstruction of an Officer, Possession of a Firearm During a Crime.                      

Entering Auto Prevention

Automobile burglary, also known as entering autos, are becoming more common around Warner Robins. 

Automobile burglaries are crimes of opportunities.  These crimes can be prevented by taking a few steps to make your car unattractive to potential criminals.  It only takes a second for criminals to get into your car - especially if it is unlocked.

Getting into the habit of securing your valuables and locking you doors can help
prevent you from becoming a victim.  

Prevention

 

· Don’t leave valuables visible in your car! 

· Place valuables in your glove compartment or trunk.  If you can - make sure they are locked.

· Don’t leave shopping bags or packages in your back seat or passenger seat.  They can be easily viewed from the window.

· Don’t leave empty docking stations for your GPS, iPod, and other electronic
devices in your car.  They only tempt a potential criminal!

· ALWAYS LOCK YOUR DOORS! Many of the entering auto cases worked by detectives are the result of someone not locking their car doors.
