- Drive slowly
- Schedule extra travel time to get to your destination
- Add several car lengths in between your car and the car in front of you
- Anticipate stops (stop signs, traffic lights, etc.) before you reach them
- Ensure all occupants of the vehicle are properly restrained at all times
