Winter Weather Driving Safety

If you must drive in the cold weather conditions today or tomorrow - remember some safety tips:

• Drive slowly

• Schedule extra travel time to get to your destination

• Add several car lengths in between your car and the car in front of you

• Anticipate stops (stop signs, traffic lights, etc.) before you reach them

• Ensure all occupants of the vehicle are properly restrained at all times

Halloween is next week!  Here are a few safety tips to keep in mind while you're planning your special family trick or treat time.

Protecting Yourself From Identity Theft - Starting With Your Mailbox!

We have had a couple of reports come in from people having mail stolen out of their mailbox.  

Protecting your identity through your mailbox is often overlooked when taking steps to protect yourself against identity theft.  

Here are some suggestions:

Do not leave you mail in your mailbox for an extended period of time.
  If you have documents you need to mail - drop them off at a Post Office instead of letting them sit in your mailbox for an extended period of time.  Avoid letting mail pile up in your box for several days or over the weekend.

Use a mailbox that locks.
  Consider investing in a locking mailbox if you want the convenience of putting documents in your mailbox.  Mail can still be placed inside the box but can only be removed with a key.

Rent a Post Office mailbox.
  The safest way to have your mail delivered is to rent a mailbox from a Postal carrier.  Your mail will go directly from the postal workers to your box without the risk of someone else taking it. 

WR Officer Shares The Christmas Spirit

During the holiday shopping season the Warner Robins Police Department began deploying officers to walk through various stores to provide a police presence to help deter potential crime.

The Warner Robins Police Department is committed to providing a safe environment where people can live, work, and play. 

A Facebook post from this past weekend reflected how much our officers care about their community and the people in it.  

Here is an excerpt from the post:

“Came to Walmart with all 4 kids in the pouring rain to get milk and bead and some last minute things.  As I was getting a child settled in the buggy I was greeted by a WR police officer (Lieutenant Lance Watson) who gave me $50 in Walmart gifts cards.  He said this lady gave ten to him and didn’t know who to give them to and so he gave them to me.  God is good and so is the Christmas spirit.  It’s refereshing to know there are still good people in this world that God does answer prayer!!”

We are very proud of Lieutenant Watson for his kindness and professionalism.  

WRHS/NHS Game Helpful Hints

Football is an exciting time of year in Warner Robins.  The Warner Robins High School vs. Northside High School game is always a well attended event.  Here are some helpful hints to remember if you are attending the game:

Be Patient

We always anticipate a large crowd for the WRHS/NHS game every year.  Remember to be patient as officers direct both motor and pedestrian traffic.

Parking

Remember that parking is limited.  It is always a good idea to car pool when attending events.  Handicap parking is limited.

Parking on sidewalks, right of ways, and block driveways are prohibited.  Cars will be towed if they are found to be violating traffic laws.

Suspicious Activity

Always report suspicious activity to a police officer or to 911.  We always appreciate the extra eyes and ears to help us provide a safe environment.
