WRPD Mourns the Loss of Ret. Major Britt

Retired Warner Robins Police Department Major James A. Britt, Sr., 80, passed away on Wednesday, April 19th, 2017. 


Born in 1937, Major Britt was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a career law enforcement officer. He was retired from the Warner Robins Police Department after more than 25 years of service to the community. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, enjoyed working with birddogs, and was also a skilled competition shooter. Major Britt was a member of the Church of Christ. He was married for 53 years to the late Ann Azlin Britt, with whom he had two children, James A. Britt Jr., and Russell A. Britt. In addition to his wife, Major Britt was also preceded in death by both of his sons. 

Survivors include his grandchildren, Elijah A. Britt, Jessica Britt, both of Perry; Caleb Britt of Brunswick, GA; and Russell Britt, Jr. of Warner Robins; and one great-grandchild, Lilly Britt. 

A funeral service for Major Britt will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in the Chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Walls officiating. Visitation with the family will be immediately prior to the funeral service on Saturday at the funeral home and will begin at 12:00 noon. Interment will be private.
