WRPD Mourns the Loss of Wendell Pittman

March 21, 1942 - April 22, 2017


Cochran, GA- former WRPD Traffic Officer Wendell T.  Pittman, age 75, died Saturday, April 22, 2017, in the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 24, 2017, at 3:00 P.M. at Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bowers Cemetery with military honors.


Mr. Pittman, born in Dodge County, had lived in Cochran since 1971. He was the son of the late Thomas and Lois West Pittman, was preceded in death by his daughter, Ruth Ann Pittman and his sister, Hilda Pittman. He was retired from Robins Air Force Base, a former Bleckley County Sheriff Deputy and US Navy Veteran. He was a member of Dubois Baptist Church.


Survivors are his wife, Beverly Lister Pittman of Cochran; his children, Wendy Thomacia Meinert of Monroe, Marie (Ashley) Lee of Statesboro and Amy (Mark) Mimbs of Cochran; grandchildren, Frank (Taylor) Roth of Statesboro, Vic Meinert of Monroe, Brianna (Michael) Loyd and Brent Mimbs of Cochran; great grandchildren, Elijah Thomas Roth of Statesboro and Wyatt Loyd of Cochran; brother, Donald (Donna) Pittman of Cochran; sisters, Patricia Horn of Cochran and Connie Smith of Dublin; several nieces and nephews and very special friend Jackie Fields of Cochran.


The family is at 1001 Empire-Chester Highway, Cochran and will greet friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Sunday at Mathis Funeral Home. www.mathisfh.net.
