Criminalistics In 2012

The Criminalistics Division is responsible for the collection, comparison, and interpretation of physical evidence found at crime scenes or collected from suspects and victims.

The division offers the services of latent print and footwear examinations, crime scene processing and reconstruction, photography, drug identification, and computer forensics.

In 2012 Criminalistics investigators:

took 17,659 crime scene photographs
processed 2,048 pieces of evidence
evaluated 2,504 latent prints
assisted in 20 incidents involving other agencies

2.  Russell Parkway @ Moody Road

     Collisions: 26
     Injuries: 2 (none serious)

Looking Back At 2012



The Warner Robins Police Department had a great 2012 full of implementing new technology to engage citizens and successful investigations that led to putting criminals in jail.  



Here is a look at 2012's major events:


January:



  • TipSubmit Launch
    • The Warner Robins Police Department and CrimeReports.com joined together to provide TipSubmit which allows citizens to send anonymous crime tips by sending a text message from a mobile phone, through a smartphone application, or the web form online.
  • Elderly Robbery Suspect Sentenced
    • Kirk Jaburee Solomon was sentenced to life plus 20 years in prison for robbing several elderly victims in 2011.  He was charged with kidnapping, armed robbery, and many other charges in connection with five incidents in 2011.

March:
  • Cold Case Solved 
    • Ronald Free was sentenced to the 1995 murder of Carol Johnson.  The case made a breakthrough in 2007 when DNA evidence was processed.  Free was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 2011.

  • Blogger & Twitter Launched
    • The official Warner Robins Police Department Blogger and Twitter accounts were launched in March 2012.  This was the first step to incorporate the agency into the social media world to effectively communicate with the public as well as the traditional media.

April:
  • Officer of Year Named
    • Detective Mark Wright was named the 2011 Officer of the Year.  Detective Wright is a 19 year veteran of the Warner Robins Police Department and a 10 year veteran in Criminal Investigations.

May:
  • Search for Missing Juvenile
    • A three day search for a missing juvenile Kit Colburn brought the both law enforcement and the community together.  Kit was found safely and reunited with his family.

July:
  • Anonymous Tip Leads to Arrest in Several Armed Robbery Incidents
    • James Ray Ussery was arrested and charged with four counts of Armed Robbery in connection with several incidents in Warner Robins and Peach County.  Investigators were able to establish investigative leads during the course of the investigation due to a anonymous tip through TipSubmit.

August:
  • WRPD Awarded K-9 Mounted Camera 
    • Members of Tactical Electronics awarded the WRPD with their new K9MC4 K-9 Mounted Camera.  The system was awarded through the National Tactical Officers Association Grant.
  • Men Sentenced In Clements Murder Trial
    • James Clements was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole in connection with his wife's, Joni Clements, murder in February 2011.  He was also sentenced to an additional 5 years in jail for possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.  Robert Sybert, the getaway driver, was sentenced to 30 years in jail.  Richard Sybert, the person who shot Joni Clements, was also sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus five years for possession of a sawed off rifle during the commission of a crime.

October:
  • WRPD Bloggers Named In Best Police Blogs of 2012
    • The Warner Robins Police's blog was named among the finalist for the most engaging and informative police department blogs of 2012 by VideoSurvellience.com.  It was selected from 44 other law enforcement blogs.
  • Teenager Sentenced in Marin Murder Trial
    • Jermontae Moss was sentenced to life without parole in connection with killing Jose Marin in September 2011.

December:
  • Virtual Ride-Along
    • Public Information Officer Tabitha Pugh rode along with a patrol supervisor and tweeted calls for service, arrests, and anything else they encountered during their night shift.  The Virtual Ride-Along was designed to give the community a glimpse into the daily life of a police officer patrolling the streets of Warner Robins.

WR Christmas Parade Traffic Information


The Warner Robins Police Department will be providing traffic management for the 2012 Warner Robins Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 1, 2012.

In an effort to provide a safe and enjoyable atmosphere, the following traffic enforcement will be in place for the event:


Road Closures:

9:30 A.M. 12:00 P.M. :
Watson Boulevard from Corder Road to North 6th Street will be closed.

Detour Locations:

9:30 A.M. 12:00 P.M. :
Traffic approaching the intersection Watson Boulevard and Corder Road will be rerouted South on Corder Road.

Traffic approaching the intersection of Watson Boulevard and North 6th Street will be rerouted North on North 6th Street.

Please note that vehicles will not be allowed access to the parade route during the hours of 9:30 A.M. to 12:00P.M.

Detour routes will be clearly marked.
