Great Job Officers!

Do you remember the Burglary In Progress arrests the other day?

Several officers responded to the call and did a great job!

Letter of Commendation for:  Captain Bryan Stewart, Lieutenant Mike Vandunse, Sergeant Malcolm Miller, Sergeant Eddie Wilcox, Sergeant Wayne Fisher, Detective Jeff Herb, Detective Justin Clark, Officer Matt Smith, Officer Pat Allen, Officer Paul Peck, Officer Trent Vanlannen, Officer Kristen Morgan, Officer Steve Warmack, Officer Thomas Lee, & Officer Brandon Underwood.

"On March 18, 2014 all the officers listed responded to 712 Katherine Street in reference to a burglary in progress.  The units were advised that the suspects were two black males that had just left the residence in question carrying a television and other items.  One suspects was reported to be wearing a black shirt and the other a grey hoodie.  Detective Herb spotted two suspects fitting the description standing inside the wood line at the park on Scott Boulevard.  He advised the marked units of the the suspects' location and then took a position to intercept the suspects when they ran.  Officers Smith and Underwood responded to the location which sparked a brief foot pursuit.  The suspects ran directly towards Detective Herb, at which point they were taken in custody by Detective Herb and Sergeant Wilcox.  Both suspects, David Brown and Tyjae Morgan, were identified by the witness on Katherine Street.  A concealed firearm was also found in the possession of Morgan.  A brief backtrack of the suspects' path revealed several items that were confirmed by Officer Patrick Allen (who had responded to secure the scene) to have been stolen from 721 Katherine Street.

At approximately the same time, Lieutenant Mike Vandunse, who responded to assist, learned from the resident in the area that a black male wearing black had been seen exiting the woods near the Warner Robins Little Theater and running across South Pleasant Hill Road.  Sergeant Malcolm Miller also responded to the area.  Sergeant Wayne Fisher responded with his K-9 partner, Ego, and conducted a brief dog track.  During this time, Sergeant Miller found a bag of rare coins in the wood line where the suspect had been seen.  The coins were later confirmed stolen from 712 Katherine Street.  Further investigation by Lieutenant Vandunse and Sergeant Miller revealed the suspect most likely went to 499 South Pleasant Hill Road.  Upon arrival there, they learned that a 14 year old male had just entered the house and changed clothes.  Detective Herb responded to that location and was able to recover the clothing that matched the description.  Detective Herb's interview of the juvenile also obtained an admission from the juvenile that he had been in possession of the stolen coins, although he denied involvement in the burglary.

The incident resulted in two adult suspects being charged with Burglary and Obstruction of Officers, and one of the adults being charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.  The juvenile suspect was charged with Theft by Receiving, and due to his history, was detained by the Houston County Juvenile Division pending a hearing.

I would like to commend all the officers involved in the incident, as I believe this is a perfect example of how teamwork, combined with competent police work, resulted in the apprehension of three suspects that were involved in at least one residential burglary.  The officers efforts also resulted in the victim's stolen items being returned to him almost immediately.  Their performance on this day helped to shine a positive light on the Warner Robins Police Department and was a credit to this agency."
